Sight Word Stamping!

I created some Halloween themed sheets for K so that he could practice his sight words.  He is really struggling with them lately so I wanted to create something fun that would help him to remember ...but without "drilling" him with flashcards.

Believe it or not the idea for the sheets was his. After seeing Little M using her find-a-letter sheets http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/FIND-A-LETTER-SHEETS-874158
he wanted to do it as well "but with words"  he said.   So I went ahead and created! There are 6 of them in total.

He LOVES using dabbers! I am actually going to be heading out this weekend to pick up some more because we didn't have all the colours he needed.

My trick is to tell him that he has to read the words out loud as he is stamping them.  It is definitely helping him to remember and I am excited that we found something fun!

Rhyming Go-Fish Game

I found this game yesterday on Pinterest and knew instantly that K would love it. He LOVES go-fish and is always wanting to play it!

I got the game here:
http://teachmama.com/time-to-rhyme-go-fish/

I took about 10 words from this list:
http://www.education.com/magazine/article/firstgradesightwords/

& then added another 10 that I knew he has been getting stuck on lately.

At first he kept saying "mom, what does this say?" I answered him the first 3 times and then I made him start reading them... He was being totally lazy ;)

He did not complain at all though & once he started beating my butt at the game we were both laughing and joking around.
I kept saying things like "I bet I can stump you with this word!" & "You are so not going to get this one right!!"  It was lots of fun!! We ended up playing 2 rounds.

I loved this game & love that I can keep adding new words to it.....so simple!
